We all see the news everyday, so it may not surprise you to hear that World of their Own is facing huge financial pressure.
Rent, business rates, energy bills, staffing, food, consumables and insurance, have all soared over the last couple of years, with no Government support or relief. Although our reputation and turnover has grown year on year, our overall costs have increased by 35%, and when the new business rates bite in April, our bill will triple.
After 8 years, entertaining over 45,000 children, Crista and I are now faced with having to completely re-evaluate the business for it to survive. Although our weekends and school holidays remain very busy, we have had to cease our mid week play sessions, as the footfall was so low it was costing money just to open the doors. The cost of living crisis is affecting everyone.
As many of you know first hand, we have worked incredibly hard over the years to build World of their Own into a unique and special place for children and families to enjoy. Not only have we put our heart, soul, sweat and tears into it, but so far, World of their Own has also been entirely self-funded. It's getting harder every month, but we still absolutely love what we do, and don't want to throw in the towel just yet!
Fortunately, there's a Sheriff's plan in the making.....
We have been offered an exciting option of an alternative venue here on Hornbeam Park, that would almost half our running costs, yet also give us the opportunity to expand the Wild West Play Town. We've listened to your feedback, and this single level building has a better layout, improving the Wild West experience for all our guests, as well as providing more parking.
But we need YOUR help...
As the sole designer, creator and producer of World of their Own, this relocation and expansion will be a huge project to undertake, but I promise to deliver and exceed expectations. However, in order to do this, we need to raise an additional £30,000 by the end of March.
All we ask is that you put your faith in what I can achieve, and pre-purchase a voucher at our current prices for your child's play session or birthday party at the new venue. You can even reserve your preferred date and time now and get it booked in the diary!
All vouchers are valid for 18 months and those who support us will be given priority to redeem them at the first opportunity. If your little outlaw is now too big for the Wild West, please consider gifting a voucher to another family or child, so that they can experience and enjoy the same incredible memories that you have.
We are also offering a limited number of sponsorship packages for local businesses. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to put your brand in front of families from across North and West Yorkshire. Businesses with mutual values and shared audiences will benefit from their own branded building in the new Wild West Play Town - imagine your cafe/restaurant name sprawled across our new Coffee & Snack Shack or Cowboy Saloon, your clothing shop or brand on our Wild West Outfitters, or your estate agency/family solicitors taking ownership of the Grand Hotel or Wild West Bank?! We have a building for almost every trade!
Business sponsors also receive many other benefits, including their logo and advertising across our marketing, plus the chance to host their own private event for an employee family day or a birthday party, and a One Year VIP Membership to enjoy or gift to their best customer!
Even the smallest purchase of one voucher would mean the world to us and help us reach our goal. If you're unable to support us in this way, it would be a massive help if you could share this page link and/or the funding link with your friends, family or business colleagues to help spread the word for us.

If you have any queries about the voucher or sponsorship options on the link above, please don't hesitate to give us a call on 07542 280856 or send us an email. We are happy to answer any of your questions.
For complete transparency, this funding is needed to:
- Dismantle our Play Town and return the existing building to its original condition.
- Install utilities, services, flooring, lighting, decor, and health and safety requirements at the new venue.
- Relocate and rebuild the existing Play Town buildings to fit the new improved configuration.
- Build additional levels and new themed buildings to expand the play offer.
- Replace and replenish all costumes and props.
- Ensure all independent safety, compliance and food hygiene inspections are carried out, including a post installation inspection by RoSPA.
We will be closing at 17A Hornbeam Park on 31st March and aim to re open at the new premises on 31st August.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued friendship and support. World of their Own would not be the incredible play environment that it is today without you and your children. The magic only begins when you walk through the saloon doors....
THANK YOU,
Sheriff Lee & Crista
